• Volunteer FAQ

Do you want to join the team this year as a volunteer? Sign up below! Read more about volunteer details below.

Q: What are the benefits of becoming a volunteer at J1-Con?

A: There are quite a few including:

  • Free event entry (on the day(s) you volunteer) which is yours to enjoy during your break time(s)
  • Participate in the J1-Con and J1Studios community

Q: What sort of work will I be doing as a volunteer?

A: That depends on the convention needs, prior experience and your strengths and interests. We will do our best to assign you to an area that is a great fit however, the first needs will be where you as a volunteer will be needed. Be sure to complete and submit the volunteer form below!

Q: What is the age limit for volunteers?

A: Due to legal requirements, applicants must be at least 18 years of age to volunteer.

Q: I submitted the form to be a volunteer, but wasn’t chosen, why not?

A: We sincerely thank everybody who wants to volunteer yet unfortunately we do not always have a position for every application we receive. We hope this doesn’t discourage you from trying again next year nor from attending the event; you should still come out, attend, and join in the festivities!

Q: What if I’m not available to help on all the days?

A: We do take on volunteers who are only available to help out on one day of the event, if that is the case you expected to volunteer BOTH SHIFTS of that day (free entry is only for the day(s) you are able to volunteer). Simply mark your availability on the volunteer application.

Q: What is expected of me as a volunteer?

A: Conduct yourself in a polite and professional manner throughout your time working. Don’t forget, once you are working as a volunteer, you are now a representative of J1-Con. It is incredibly important to us that we all as a unit conduct ourselves in a way we want to be represented – supportive, helpful, informative and professional – all while having a blast!

You are expected to attend all staff meetings and to be on time to all of your scheduled shifts. Being late to a shift is unfair to the team, to other volunteers and to our fans.

You must remain at your assigned location/position during your assigned shift. If you need to leave for any reason you must notify the volunteer coordinator so they can organize a replacement for your post.

As you are representing J1-Con, ensure you are neatly presented at all times and keep your badge on for the length of your shift for easy identification.

Don’t forget… thank you for your partnership and have a blast!
